The Waters Rose and So Will We

Classrooms Can’t Wait

LET’S BRING STUDENTS BACK TO CLASS!

  • Why are students not on campus? Constant flooding caused OA to close its campus (November 2025).
  • How are they learning? Teachers and students are doing their best with online learning, but not everyone has WIFI and students need to see their classmates and teachers face-to-face.
  • What caused this? Island development and changing weather patterns cause water to collect in the area and seep up from underground. The fire department pumped and carried away 4,500 liters in one day (November 2025) and the water level inside the building never changed. Stagnate water creates an unsafe environment.
  • What has OA tried to do? The school has continually raised the level of the floors over the past 10 years and partnered with an engineer to band-aid the situation. They cannot go any higher.
  • How can we help? Help us get new classrooms started right away.

$15,000 USD MATCHING FUNDS

  • A concerned community member pledged $15,000 USD to match funds raised by December 31, 2025.

ONE by ONE ~ Every classroom means more face-to-face classes!

  • Our goal is a total of 8 Classrooms.
  • The cost is $30,000 per classroom.
  • Matching $15,000 will fund the first classroom … putting OA on the right path to get back to school!

Physical Therapy & Rehabilitation

Gilly, Teacher Zane, and the boys

DONATIONS & SUPPORT SAVED LIVES & KEEPS REHABILITATION GOING!

  • How are Gilly, Gevan and Teacher Zane doing after their spinal surgeries? Thanks to donors, Shriners Hospital and a huge network of caring people, Gilly, Gevan and Teacher Zane are all on their road to recovery after spinal surgeries. It’s not easy. They’re working hard.
  • How are the rest of the players? Medical and counseling support has helped with physical and emotional recovery. The team competed at the 2025 regional basketball tournament in November earning second place in their district.
  • What do they need most? Gilly and Teacher Zane need continued support for physical therapy, medical supplies, equipment, and nurse and doctor visits. Gevan and some of the boys need ongoing support for follow-up appointments.
  • Why is physical therapy so important for Gilly and Teacher Zane right now? Physical therapy after spinal surgery is a critical part of recovery. It’s not just about regaining movement—it directly affects how well the spine heals, how much mobility and balance is regained, and whether long-term complications can be avoided. As they work to regain independence, physical therapy provides strength and hope.
  • What is the fundraising target? Friends of Ocean Academy’s goal is to raise funds to contribute $5,000/month for medical and counseling needs for all players and teachers affected by the van accident.
  • How can you help? Contribute a single donation or better yet a recurring donation. Every bit makes a difference!
